August 9-12 We saw thousands of visitors come through the museum. The trailers bathroom, covered in coral colored Wilsonart Laminate, and the new riveted entry and exit steps (built by John Palmer) were a big hit with many that visited the museum. Lynx-Levelers were generous sponsors and we displayed all of their products front and center. You can also see their products at https://trilynx.com/collections/tri-lynx-products
This year the Vintage Camper Trailers Magazine and its bevy of volunteers (Team VCT) served pancakes, sausages, and oatmeal to about 350 trailerites, right outside of the Mid-Century Mobile Museum! See the video below.
Over 200 trailers gathered in Lodi, CA for one of the two Trailerfest Rallies we host each year. This years event was Hippies/1960's and most everyone played along. We celebrated the 60s and early 70s with a trip back to hippies and peace, love and trailers! Whole wheat pancakes and granola for breakfast, tie-dyeing tee shirts a 1960s cover band and brownies for desert were just some of the fun we had this year. The Mid Century Mobile Museum was rally central where everyone could check in and get their swag bags. One of the first rallies of the year in our area and right on the Sacramento River. This rally has been hosted by Joel and Rachel Harp of Harps RV for about 10 years. They gave the Mid Century Mobile Museum a premiere location right in front and on the river. Fellow author/photographer Doug Keister showed up to sign some of his Teardrop and Tiny Trailers books and offer us the insight of his publishing experience. We get to see a lot of great friends and will not soon forget the tragedy of a totaled trailer on the way home from the event.
Isleton, CA Library Event March 10th, 2018. We really enjoy doing book signings and this was one of the first with our new book, Vintage Camper Trailer Rallies.
What a gorgeous drive to Isleton, CA. We wove our way down two lane roads towing our 1955 mansion on wheels. It was beautiful with the picture book farms sitting off the road on one side and the Sacramento River on the other. A bit hair raising as we crossed several bridges. With my lack of ability to judge height I kept asking Paul if the bridges were tall enough for us to tow the trailer through. He sweetly just rolls his eyes. Thank you to the cars that backed up so we could get across the bridges. We were definitely not too high but our big girl is a bit wide for some of those narrow bridges! We always enjoy sharing how we turned our hobby into a full time business! Start small. Be Passionate. Become the Expert. We learned by making some mistakes but also by just getting out and doing what we love. We shared with a great group of Sisters on the Fly from Reno, NV (thank you for coming) and several others from the local area about our business. We always get a good turnout at the Green Haven Pocket Area location. It is fun to look back and consider the road we traveled. After the lecture we invited the group to come tour the Mid Century Mobile Museum. Casa de Fruta March 1st - 4th www.vctbootcamp.com What a great display piece to share with fellow restorers. About 200 people from across th US and Canada gathered to learn how to restore vintage camper trailers from some of the most respected builders and restorers in the hobby. Angelo and Grace came along to help for the weekend. The Mid Century Mobile Museum is comfy for two, but a bit tight when 4 are camping. We were able to fit a couple cots in the front of the Museum for them and their dog Jewel. (Jewel is our Vintage Camper Trailers Mascot)
February 15th -18th, 2018 Roseburg, OR Sportsman’s Outdoor and Recreation Show. Back up I-5 to the Roseburg.OR. Grace and Paul hit the road to take the Mid Century Museum to the Sportsman’s Outdoor and Recreation Show. Some rain but it was pretty clear sailing over the mountains on the way up. After 3 days of sharing the museum it was time to head home but, it was snowing sideways and there were travel advisories to stay put. Following an extra-long dinner at the buffet inside the local casino, they decided to campout in the Spartan for the night and wait for the sun to melt the snow off the roads. They were worried they would be chilly as they were not plugged into an electrical source but the trailer is well insulated and both Paul and Grace said they were very comfortable. By the time they hit the road the next morning the roads were clear and the scenery was breath taking.
